*North
Side Carcass Buyers (walk to carcass) -
The Carcass Buyer is a mark that you begin the game with. To go there,
type walk to carcass from any main street or road. When you
get
there his shop will be two areas to the north (north-north from the
mark). The shopkeeper will buy whatever animal parts you pick up
from
hunting. While it changes every great once in while, he usually can be
relied upon to purchase pelts and head from rats and osecar. I wouldn't
suggest wasting your time with any other animal part unless you know
for
certain that he is buying other parts.
To
skin these parts from an animal you have killed, type skin
<pelt, hide, etc.> from <animal>. You must be holding a
knife or dagger to
skin. Then simply put them in your sack and continue hunting. When you
get worn out from the hunt (or gathered so many pelts and heads that
they
are weighing you down) go to the Carcass Buyer and sell them before you
take your rest at the Baths.
To
sell skins, head, etc. offer <animal part> to Caprarius and
respond
"cap change when you are done. He will offer you your pay,
simply
accept cap and your character will accept the coins.
*The
Bronze Lane (walk to bronze) - The
bronze square is the main shopping area for weapons and armor. While
you
probably can't afford anything from here at first, this will be the
first
place you spend your money when you finally do get it. To go there,
type
walk to bronze from any main street or road. When you arrive at
the bronze mark, go east twice, then go northeast twice.
You will be standing in the square. To your left will be Waike's
Legionnaire
Supply selling cheap armor and weapons (but limited stock), to your
right
is The Gladius Shop, selling all manner of gladius.
*Junk
Dealer (walk to junk) - The
Junk Dealer will purchase all manner of "junk" such as clothing from
the
thug alleys, the dropped weapons of bandits (bows, arrows, wooden
spears),
sacks, and just about anything you can conceive of being even remotely
worthy of something. You won't get much for the junk you collect but
you
will get something. A great way to supplement your salvaging income
while
saving up for your armor and weapon.
*The
Riverside Baths (walk to bath) - The Riverside Baths are the
most
popular of the public baths in Iridine. The baths have three main
rooms.
The entryway, the tepidarium (hot water bath) and the frigidarium (cold
water bath). When your character becomes exhausted from hunting, or any
other such activity, just go to the Baths and go the Tepidarium. Go
down to the tepidarium and lay in the water. You will find
that
you recover from fatigue at a much, much faster rate than from simply
laying
around in the street or sitting in the Toga. The frigidarium, on the
other
hand, is designed to slow or stop bleeding wounds. It doesn't work
wonders
but when your character receives a bleeding wound and no healers are in
town, there's slim chance it might save you from bleeding to death.
*Seneda's
Bank (walk to bank) -
Sededa's bank is the place to store valueables and coin. When you
arrive
at the mark the bank will be two areas to the north. Go in, offer
<item
or coins> to [the] clerk. He will accept it and
put in
your account. To check your account type "clerk inventory. The
clerk will
inform you of the total coin in your account as well as any item you
have
deposited. To withdraw some coin or an item type: withdraw
<#> <coin>
or withdraw <item>. (Beware, the bank charges a fee for
withdrawing
items, 20 denars!)
*The
Coliseum (walk to coliseum) -
The Coliseum in Iridine is basically a giant octagon. Movement within
it
will tend to be of the 'round and round' variety. When you get really
tough
you can go into an antechamber there and say "practice". A
gladiator
will come out and try to kill you. DO NOT do this if you are not at
least
more than tough enough to handle the bandits in the bandit woods. If
you aren't sure if you're tough enough to handle a gladiator, then
trust me, you're not.
*The
Constables' Headquarters (walk to constable) -
This is the Iridine version of the local police station. Probably
you'll
never have any reason to go there other than to apply for a job as a
constable
when they are accepting applications.
*The
Hospice of the Morning Light (walk to hospice) -
This is where healer characters go to purchase their supplies.
Bandages,
antiseptic, scissors, etc. are all on sale here but probably not of
much
use to non-healer characters. Healing can be received from Melilia
there,
so it makes a good alternative if no healers are available. Healers can
also find patients in the waiting rooms to the south of Melilia's room
who will pay a small fee for their services.
*The
Library of Iridine (walk to library) -
Honestly, the library hasn't been open for as long as I've been playing
TEC. I don't know if it was shut by the GM's, locked by some
mischievous
locksmith or never opened in the first place. Regardless, if they ever
open it at least you'll know how to get there.
*The
Stone Toga Inn (walk to toga) -
The Stone Toga is the center of activity in TEC. It's eastern yard is
the
starting point for new characters and is the hang-out of Phaedro.
Healers
tend to hang-out there, waiting for potential patients. Players usually
use this mark as a meeting place. The sewers are just a few steps away.
As such, it tends to be the focal point for many of the events in TEC.
*Vetallun
Crossroads (walk to cross) -
This mark is situated square in the middle of the Vetallun, a village
to
the northeast of Iridine.
*Vetallun
Road (walk to vet) -
The Vetallun Road mark is situated near the northeast edge of the city
on the road leading to Vetallun village. This convenient mark lies
relatively
close to the Dumps, the road to the Bandit Woods and the Wayfarer Inn.
*Sesquillicus'
Supply Shop -
From the Stone Toga mark walk east three times, north three times and
then
go east to enter the shop. (walk to toga: Ex3 - Nx3 - E) [Thanks
to
Retalq Blade for direction correction!].
Ses's
Supply Shop is where most players buy their gear. As a warrior you will
find that there are several items that essential to hunting, and
several
that you will find quite convenient. Ses' sells containers (large
sacks,
pouches and backpacks), light sources (torches, lanterns and flasks of
oil to fuel the lanterns), food rations and rope (useful in binding
unconscious
or passive creatures/players and useful to outdoorsmen in making a
lean-to). She also sells bait for fishing poles.
Sesquillicus
will buy any burnt torches you find for (the last time I checked) one
denar.
Burnt torches can be found all over Iridine but the best place to
search
is underground, where torches are always needed, the Sewers. Even if
you
haven't got your armor yet you can dodge the creatures of the sewers
long
enough to pick up some torches. Just carry them to Ses, offer torch
to ses and respond "ses change when you are done. She will
offer
you your pay, simply accept ses and your character will accept
the
coins.
Sesquillicus
buys torches from outdoorsmen, too, and this is how you outdoorsmen
players
will make your money at first.
*Mondon's
Gem and Jewelry Shop -
From the Bank mark walk three times west, once southwest, three times
west
and once north. (walk to bank: Wx3 - SW - Wx3 - N)
Mondan
sells very expensive jewelry and relies on players for most of his
gems.
Mondan buys the gems from the stomachs of some animals (or from bandit
chests
for that matter) for very reasonable prices. Gems aren't as easy to
find as they used to be, but if you happen across one, Mondan will may
a decent fee for them.
*Venina's
Leather Shop -
From the Library mark walk east twice, south twice, east once, south
twice,
east once. (Ex2 - Sx2 - E - Sx2 - E) (Thanks to Jetal for
the more efficient and easier-to-remember directions!)
Venina
buys the leather boots and armor of bandits in the bandits woods,
though the money she offers is outrageously low (only three denar for a
suit of bandit armor!). She
also sells leather articles of clothing that make for pretty good
reinforcement
for your armor (just wear your armor over it). Although the prices are
rather high (over 200 denar for a leather tunic) they will compliment
your regular armor nicely, if you can afford it. The protection they
offer is
rather poor but they can often absorb small amounts of damage that blow
through your armor. Whether you purchase these
items before or after your armor is up to you. For the record, I
recommend
leather tunic, leather breeches, gloves and belt.
Venina
also buys any empty pouches that
you might have found in town. (Pouches sell for 1 sen each so I would
suggest
accumulating a whole lot of them first or the trip won't be worth it.)
[Retalq
Blade seys: "Some different directions to Venina's shop is from
the bank, go 3w, sw, 2w, 2s, 2w, 2s, go door. That should take you
right
into Venina's shop. There ya go. :)"]
*The
Obstacle Course -
From the Carcass Buyer mark walk once west, three times northwest,
north
once, northeast twice, north twice, northeast once, east twice, north
once
and then east. (walk to carcass: W - NWx3 - N - NEx2 - Nx2 - NE -
Ex2
- N - E). The second obstacle course, located just north of the
first,
can be travelled to thus; from the Carcass Buyer mark walk once west,
three
times northwest, north once, northeast twice, north once, northeast
twice,
east twice, north twice, east twice and then south. (walk to
carcass:
W - NWx3 - N - NEx2 - Nx2 - NE - Ex2 - Nx2 - Ex2 - S).
The
Obstacle Course is for improving your character's physical attributes
(speed,
strength, agility, etc.). While it is a difficult and time consuming
method,
it is also the ONLY method. But time and effort is well worth it as
higher
physical attributes will aid you significantly in battle.
*At
the first obstacle course: The first obstacle (the climbing wall) type
climb rope. The second obstacle (the plank) type go plank.
The third obstacle (the path) go path. If you fail at any of
these
obstacles, and you will, when the trainers bring you back to the start
simply stand up, go one east and start all over.
*At
the second obstacle course: The first obstacle (a mud pit) type jump
rope. The second obstacle (a path through swinging weights) type go
path. The third obstacle (a circluar path) type go track .
The
fourth obstacle () type .
If
you fail at any of these obstacles, and you will, when the trainers
bring
you back to the start simply stand up, go one south and
start
all over.
Beware,
though. Your abilities will only be improved by successfully completing
the entire course, and then only by a slim chance. Many have completed
the course as many as fifteen to twenty times without any improvment at
all. If you are not an extremely patient person, don't bother.
(* Thanks to Trace Tren
for corrections to Obstacle Course instructions!)
*The
Wayfarer Inn -
From the Vetallun Road mark walk once west, then once south. (walk
to
vet: W - S)
An
inn second in popularity only to the Stone Toga. Just as the Toga, it
is
often the scene of TEC events and a meeting place for players.

(if that's where you have it), offer the dagger to Thimaro.
He will ask you if you want him to buy it or repair it, respond "thimaro
buy. He will put the dagger away. Then respond "thimaro
change,
he will offer you your reward. Accept thimaro and your
character
will accept it from him.

give you skill points in locksmith skill (if you are a locksmith). To
earn

open. Apula will ask someone in the store if they will open it for a
small
fee. Answer "yes" to Apula if he asks you, get the chest
and open it (open chest with lockpick). When you have opened
it,
offer it to the citizen (not Apula) and
you
will get paid for your work. (walk to bronze; Nx5, W.)
