    First, ye betta get used to one lil idear...that yer gonna get pounded on. Ye jest are, and thar ain't nun' ye kin do 'bout it. Or is there? Connies are gonna pound ye, players are gonna pound ye (when they ketch ye, an' they will) and even yer victims are gonna pound ye now and again. So what kin be done 'bout dat? Well, ye kin do the same thing those meathead warriors do before they go trouncing through de sewers. Ye kin invest in a lil armor, somethin' to protect yer skinny arse from the worse of the bruisin'.
    Ye got two options here, now. Ye kin spend yer time salvagin' around town, scrapin' up a few denarii fer some piss-poor leather gear, er ye kin start skinnin' them workers fer tools to sell to Bibulus. The firs' option's safer and lets ye start out skinnin' with a bit o' protection but it's awful damned tedious. The second option'll get ye bruised all to hell and back 'fore ye kin afford any decent protection but is'a lot more fun, though.
    So, once ye got a few hundred denarii, what to get? Again, same as dem meathead warriors:
Leather tunic (Venina's)
Leather breeches (Venina's) Gloves (Venina's)
Belt (Venina's)
Leather helmet (Harach's) Heavy hobnailed soldier's boots (Waike's) Stiff leather pteryges (Harach's) Leather arming jerkin (Waike's)
Leather shoulder pterygyes (Harach's) Leather cuirass (Harach's) or Padded armor (Harach's) Sagum (Waike's)
(I also recommend an armillus, since your arms is where a good number of the connie's blows will land)
    Now ain't none a' dis gonna stop ye from gettin' pounded on an' it'll weigh ye down so's ye can't carry as much loot , but it'll keep the damage to a minimum. Two other things ye might wanna invest in is a pouch (any kind) and a small, palm - sized object (coin, lockpick, candy, etc.). We'll get to that in a minute.
