^Top^ December 23 (1:09:43 AM) - "Battle of the Young Bloods" December 15th and 16th. A new tournament was held in Iridine, under the title of the 'Battle of the Young Bloods'. This tournament was made for warriors whose skills were good, but not typical of the war-hardened veterans that roam much of Iridine. Many new faces showed up for battle and some surprisingly more able than they had been thought to be. Held upon the training grounds north of Iridine the tournament drew many viewers its first day. People gathered around has these new warriors faced off against each other. In the line-up were Vilious, Bawtun, Rizer, Astiny, Ancus, Marnicus, Cloudy, Torshorack, Wehttam, Dug, Hellgu, Drexus, Danzig, Malatan, Morgyn, and Ciranus. Each one faced off in a series of elimination matches. Sword met sword, whip met axe, bow met blade, the many abilities of the fighters was a spectacle to behold. In the end four warriors were held above the rest has the Elite of the Young Bloods Vilious, mighty axemen powering into first place and the 2100 denar prize Rizer, fanciful student of Nelsor fighting taking second and with it 1200 denar Drexus, brash cestus gladiator taking third place and 450 denar Wehttam, the masterful archer, a steady aim, his key to fourth place and 450 denar The tournament went off without a hitch, no one was severly hurt, beyond their pride that is, and the audience was pleased. Perhaps there shall be another such tournament in the near future. ~ Jetal December 16 (12:20:31 AM) - The Ferry been moved The close of the seventeenth day of Invex saw the owner of Signaltower Island, Quentus, ask for help from the city's people. He arrived at the Master's Choice, and proceeded to explain he was moving his ferry landing to a spot north and west of the Stone Toga Inn so as to provide easier access for newcomers to the city. Many people sprang up, willing to help out Quentus, and we were soon heading out to the new landing site. Once arrived, Quentus chose five people from the crowd, both for their agility and strength. They were instructed to go to the current ferry landing, and help pole the ferry northwards. After an over-lengthy journey, all five finally arrived, and proceeded to start. At first, it was total chaos. Thanas, Faxes, Credim, Mandalee, and Arutha went to work quickly, but were soon thrown off the ferry becuase of turbulent waters. After some trouble with a slippery climbing rope, the five brave steerspeople began the hard work of pushing the boat poles into the harbor bottom. Meanwhile, on land, Quentus had other helpers haul on ropes, to speen the ferry's passage. A few close calls later, including crashing into an abandonded warehouse, the ferry finally arrived, and Quentus lead the crew on it for it's new maiden voyage. Once on Signaltower Island, Quentus paid his helpers, and many wandered off. The few who stayed were treated to Quentus' own personal store of excellent wine, as well as the company of the man himself. After a fairly lenghty celebratory party, the rest of the crew retired for the evening, leaving Quentus to sleep. All in all, this endevour was a complete succes. ~ Locklear December 11 (3:09:56 AM) - The End of the Butcher All day, there were attacks. Bandits and brigands attacked innocent travelers along Vetallun Road, warriors fought them back. Brith was sighted north of the village of Vetallun, and then brigands and bandits attacked temples about the city. Then, late in the evening, they attacked yet again. At the Vetallun Road marker, at the boulder near the bandit forest, and then finally at the Holy Temple in Monlon. It had been Brith's target the entire time. He wanted revenge on the priests for helping the Iridine legions by conjuring a strom against the Aestivan army. But the valiant defenders came quickly, and took down the threat. Eventually, Brith 'The Butcher' fell as well. The man who killed so many is finally gone. ~ CornBread November 13 (2:51:43 PM) - Attack On the 10th day of Palut there was massive action in the Battlefields. The Cinerans, once again up to no good, made an attack on Monlon. Lucky for Iridine, they were beaten back by soldier and civilian alike. Next thing we knew Fiona called on healers to come by her place. When about four or five healers arrived they found several wounded Iridinian soldiers. The captain explanied that they were escorting a weapons convoy from Legio II. They then came under attack by Aestivan Hoplites. With that Ton, Pacolypse, and Shalini led an expedition into the ravines. Finding only scant resistance, we returned home. On our way home we encountered yet more Cinerans. Those bloody cowards had the nerve to attack unarmed healers. Once again the area healers set up camp and the wounded were fixed up and the republic was saved. The Hoplites were not found. ~ estrough
October 29 (5:21:21 PM) - As the morning turned to afternoon of the sixteenth day of Aera, an altogether unremarkable day turned remarkable by the eclipsing of the sun by the dark grey moon significant of the Destroyer, Ravan. Known as the god of death by heretics and other, more rational-minded people, Ravan seems to have gone insane and sworn himself to destroy the world with his minions, not the least of which are men and creatures such as Payne, Gideon, Dytan, His hordes of carrion birds, morleii, and the occasional demon-hound. This eclipsing once more brought the forces of Ravan unto Iridine and all of Midlight. As the moon slowly passed in front of the sun, reports were heard of human-shaped figures, the souls of dead that did not pass fully into Ravan's domain and are nominally trapped in the portal, travelling in the sewers. Then, from that same area, it was heard that Feysal was shuddering in pain, and that all people there were sweating blood. As the darkness intensified, so did the raids. Accounts of fallen Cineran and Iridine soldiers at the battlefields north of Monlon were heard. Entire armies were raised on the grasslands north of Iridine, who harried living Iridinians and Cinerans alike. The dead shade of Iridine's former dictator, Calsuan, appeared- stab wound and all. A tall woman, as dead as the rest, bemoaned the loss of her child Kerr. Diseased rats plagued the sewers and the harbor area while carrion birds swarmed over Monlon, the Toga, and Monlon, killing constables and guards with abandon. Even at the beginning of the darkness, happiness was being celebrated. In front of a small group of friends and well-wishers, Katerina and Drunser were married. As the night progressed and the darkness spread, Shade and they worked to spread the simple remedy to surviving any cataclysm Ravan could wreak on the world- joy. Pure, unalloyed joy. Joy expressed through singing, love, and any other form could best Ravan, and only that. So while Ereal was covered, the world discovered they could prolong Ravan's worst merely through their own artifice. As a side note, Drunser's lost the gravel- the cause of this is unknown, but the effect is rather welcome, both to him and to the rest of the population's ears. ~ TEC News Staff October 28 (12:21:37 PM) - Late on day, Ennvolius came to the Stone Toga Inn, quite worried. His young master, Sciprius, had gone missing earlier that day, and he just couldn't find him. He had gone with his body guard Ther'ais to watch some soldiers fight. So some helpful citizens began the trek to Monlon, as the elderly Ennvolius went home, hoping for his young masters return. While on the way to Monlon, the citizens heard Sciprius in their thoughts. He was injured, and in the ravines. And Ther'ais had struck him. When the citizens found the young patrician, Ther'ais was unconscious, and Sciprius was pretty well beaten. Lanamor escorted Sciprius to the Wild Boar Inn, just inside Monlon, while some other citizens went about dragging his Altene bodyguard there as well. After a bit of problems with someone attempting to loot the bodyguard, they also arrived at the Wild Boar Inn, and had found a disk on Ther'ais. According to Shade this disk, which had the face of a demon upon it, meant that Ther'ais had been hired to kill someone, it was a symbol of the agreement. So after Ther'ais awoke, he was questioned. He admitted to being hired to kill the young patrician, and it hurt Sciprius badly when Ther'ais admitted it. He was somewhat in shock that his bodyguard had struck him. Ther'ais was eventually hauled off to jail for treason, and Sciprius was escorted back to the city. He had learned one important lesson that night, and that is that he could not trust anyone. ~ CornBread October 20 (11:21:25 PM) - Orphanage Fidecus, Captain of the soldiers of Ereal, was at his best while performing an act of charity to the city. The SoE used previous donations to build an orphanage across the street from Jocephus the tailor. A soldier coming to get some water to cool off at the Toga asked for assistance, and instantly dozens of citizens were clearing rubble, painting walls, and moving in furniture. It took some brute effort and steady hand-work, but eventually the place was completed, and after some generous donations of toys by some residents of Iridine, the children were off to sleep. While wrapping things up, Captain Fidecus was spotted playing with a few of the toys, though to little sucess. A much better night than seeking out Undone children, as any good-hearted folk would agree. ~ CreepingDas October 16 (2:26:12 PM) - A cry for help On the 5th day of the Festival of the Conquerer, Flanag stumbled into the street near the Toga. He feel to his knees, shoke his head, and began shaking uncontrollably. He immediatly said to the crowd there, 'Y'akai Erai'Theran' which means Help me Erai'Theran. We started to clam him down and he slowly began to tell his tale as I summoned for Shade to come to the Toga to assists. He spoke of seeing a shadow in a clearing. The shadow touched him once, numbing him, and then again, bringing him to his knees. It then said Y'akai Erai'Theran. Baffled, we waited for Shade as she rushed to the Toga to try to make sense of the situation. As Shade arrived I repeated the story, and we were unable to determine who the shadow was. Eventually, it was conluded the shadow as 'a trapped one', a soul who died but ended up in Raven's halls not in the normal way (quoting Shade). A party was then sent to investigate the area around the portal. After an intense search, nothing was found. ~ Cladius Maximus October 15 (11:34:58 PM) - Trial of treason On the 6th day fo the Festival of the Conqueror, in the 219th year of the Republic, just over 50 people went to the Hall of Judgement to attend Aglaia's trial on the charge of treason. Senator Lucius Sulla presided over the case. After a number of legio soldiers, mainly Thoras, testified against her, saying she had confessed to being a memeber of the infamous CLA, a number of citizens and constables stood up in her defense, including her brother the constable Juggalos, and her main defensive lawyer, Narius. Then Sulla pondered her guilt. He came to the decision that her actions were phenomenally stupid, but being phenomenally stupid wasn't cause for beheading. But her actions had caused a lot of trouble in the city. She was given no less then another month in prison, and 25 strokes of the lash to carried out upon her release. ~ CornBread October 9 (3:28:49 PM) - Smell of death Citizens all over the city were going about their business when a huge cloud of dust arose from the Colesseum. A worker was then heard screaming, 'Help! The foundation collapsed and rats are swarming my friends!' Citizens rushed to a work pit were the foundation collapsed and poisoned rats swarmed. Citizens easily took care of the rats and moved further ito the pit, to see a small opening leading downwards. It lead to a dark damp area, with columns linning the walls. Further down as an enormous doorway and inside was something more gastly than anything this reporter has ever seen...25 dead men. The corpses reaked and seemed to have been ina great amount of pain. They were dressed in brilliant armor, which some looters decided to grab for themselves. Almost immediatly, people began to feel sick and sweat. They then started to vomit and then get violent dry heaves. Healers were dispatched and stomach settler issued as numerous citizens writhed in pain. Eventually, it was determined the items taken off the body were infected with some type of virus. The pit itself was rumored to be the tomb of an ancient king and the whereabouts of a scroll with this writing is unknown. If any citizen has an item from this terrible event, please give it to a Legio member to be burned. ~ Cladius Maximus October 2 (9:14:17 PM) - Trouble in Blackvine Late in the evening of the 15th day of Tulcas, Governor Sedivain of Blackvine asked for the assistance of the citizens of the Republic. The task he required help in was the construction of a road from the village of Blackvine to Vetallun. He had obtained the supplies needed and a small crew, but they still needed more workers. Work quickly began, with citizens and members of the Blackvine Militia clearing away underbrush, leveling the road-bed, hauling supplies, and keeping a watchful eye on both the riverbank for fluviturs, and the forest for the more deadly brigands that lurked within. The work went smoothly, despite the back-breaking labor. Perhaps it was the mood, for everyone seemed in high spirits, and many enjoyed the foreman's banter as he prodded his workers along. The mood was not to last however, as a large group of brigands emerged from the forest and quickly attacked the road crew and those charged with defending it. The brigands attacked with a purpose, quickly killing the foreman and many of his workers. The citizens and Militia fought back however, and when the last few brigands were sent fleeing into the forest, over a dozen others lay lifeless upon the ground. Their purpose had been accomplished though, as the work on the road could not be continued without the skilled labor of the foreman and his crew. A parchment was found on the body of one brigand, revealing that someone was behind the attack, and that the attack was a message to the Governor and his Militia. For now the work on the road to Blackvine has been halted. But the people of the Republic can not be stopped from achieving their goals for long. ~ Poggio September 23 (11:36:09 PM) - Demonic Lion Raises Terror Early in the morning, on the 4th day of Tulchas, a man named Keerkeg came into to Wayfarer. He leaned on his hunting spear, and asked for a healer. He had been injured, by the demon Bregga. His brothers had been killed, and he had also, he said. He told the story of how Bregga, a massive white lion with red eyes, had claimed the lives of his clans children, and their women. He and his brothers were the last, and had chased him for five summers, all the way from the Blackroot Mountains to the plains east of Iridine, and that was where he had been killed. The crowd chose to follow him to that place, to protect their children, as Bregga had killed all the children in the towns and villages along the way. So Keerkeg led the citizens and a few constables to the grasslands east of the city, and then north, bringing them near the burnt villa. There they fought many lions, and the massive white lion, Bregga. After Bregga was knocked unconscious, Keerkeg shoved his spear into the lion's heart. But then something terrible happened. Bregga's spirit entered Keerkeg. He ran off, but didn't get far. Constable Shara swept him, and then Bjergar impaled him. Then Keerkeg was able to take control of his body again, he asked to be killed, while he controlled the demon. Bjergar did so, striking the killing blow. Lorican began to dig a shallow grave with his helmet, then others proceeded to help. Keerkeg was buried there, with all of his things. A lion's skull lies atop the grave, with the name Keerkeg engraved upon it. ~ CornBread September 18 (12:08:24 AM) - Riot Almost Incited Early in the morning, an old veteran with a twisted leg shouted that he was upset that the poor people were without food, that our hordes of gold could easily feed them. He proceeded to attack people on the street, and was eventually caught by a few constables and citizens. A parchment was found on him, which, combined with a parchment found earlier in the week, told the constables to be wary of a rally inciting to a riot later that day. And so the constables split up, Lorican went to the harbor, while Shara went to watch Seneda's Bank. While Shara was at the bank, she caught sight of a refugee and an urchin hurrying to a meeting, and she followed them to a rally, where a man in a white hooded cloak was speaking. Along the way, she passed Lorican, and he entered a bit later. The constables acted like they were part of the crowd, and learned of plans to attack the bank, and steal the gold stashed there. The constables asked for assistance at the bank, and followed Praetus, the man in the hood, there. Then they attacked, constables, and citizens turned and fought back against the mob. Praetus yelled for his mob to flee, that it was a trap, but the constables Lorican and Shara chased him down and knocked him unconscious. He was placed in a holding cell until he could be brought to the legio, and the mob was cleared. ~ CornBread September 15 (3:26:17 AM) - Assassin Strikes Fear Early in the morning on the 20th day of Scran a number of people, in early morning rush from Seneda's bank were approached by a beggar asking for money. Though this was no ordinary beggar, this man was a killer. The mysterious assasin fought well and attacked many of the citizens that passed. His demands were for all their possesions or their life. Though strong in skill he'd not the speed to chase after his vicitims and many fortunate escaped with only minor wounds. Due to the time no constabulary were around to assist the vicitms, however, so a small band of fighters came to the people's aid. The rapscallion was quickly subdued, but killed by one of the more 'eager' warriors. All his possesions were taken by the group, but one of the more civic minded citizens had found a parchment on the man that was soon taken to the authority of the constabulary. The man's purpose is now only known to him and those who had read the parchment, but the feeling that this is not soon over rests in the minds of many, and the events of the night lay heavy in the mind of those that were approached. ~ Jetal September 13 (11:53:40 PM) - Soldiers of Ereal on the Prowl On the 17th day of Scran, a group of SoE showed up at the Wayfarer Inn. The leader of the SoE members there was Fidecus. He proclaimed that he was looking for two people, both accused of being a thief, both accused of being a heretic, and both being Undone. Fidecus said that they had tracked the two to the Inn but lost them in the crowd that was enjoying ale there. Soon a search, by Fidecus’ men, began and Fidecus found who he was looking for. A young girl, Zeria, and her brother, Israfel, were the accused. There was a very long, emotional, discussion about the two being thieves and heretics between Fidecus, Gargath, Lorican, Pepa, Locanda, Excentric and a few others. The people at hand finally convinced Fidecus to let the young girl and her brother be taught the ways of Ereal, since they were never shown the way of Ereal. They were then escorted to a priest in a temple in Iridine, and there they begin there learning. After their finale exchange of farewells, the priest took the two Undone away for safekeeping and to educate them of the ways of Ereal the Conqueror. All in all it was a very good day in Iridine, we turned two people that were going to be killed into hopeful believers. A young girl, Zeria, and her brother, Israfel, were the accused. He brought them in, asking for them to tell stories or songs in defiance of the enemy at the door. Jetal told a story about a sergeant that was thief, then Sepulus told what had happened at the raid on the city a few weeks before. Then Phaestus told a rather funny story, in which a small Iridine locksmith outsmarted an enormous Cineran warrior. Then Flavius told his plan. And it was set into motion. We left his home to see a flaming arrow, and then catapults launched flaming debris at a fort north of Monlon, in the ravines. The soldiers and citizens attacked the fort, taking down a number of Cineran and Aestivan soldiers, and a Cineran officer called for retreat to the north, but he was unable to make it into their next fort north in the ravine, as Mordheim had locked it's gate with his handy lockpick. The officer was captured and brought to Governor Flavius, a great day for the Republic. ~ CornBread September 2 (2:39:42 AM) - Cinerans Raid Monlon, Take Hostages Early morning on the 31st day of Ereal in the 219th Year of the Republic Cineran forces from the nearby fort in Monlon raided the city. The raiders ran through ransacking the city looking primarily for food. The raiders took many hostages, the local baker, grocer, bronzesmith, leather dealer, and various inn keepers were all taken hostage up to the fort just north of the city. The governor however was hidden and the Cinerans were not able to find him. After completing their raid they set part of the city ablaze and retreated to the fort except for a select few who had stayed back to fight the oncoming reinforcements.. By the time any major help had arrived it was too late to help stop the raid. After some skillful negotiating made by the Legio officers that were present the Cinerans had asked for a ransom of 55 sacks full of food. Most of the nearby citizens went around to the local food shops in the city that were still standing and gathered food. Others had brought food in from Vetallun and some had gotten the food from their own stashes. Food pilled into the center of town where it was to be gathered and placed in the sacks as it was discovered that the citizens too had their own prisoner. A large cloaked man had remained in the city and was knocked out, the Cineran forces had agreed to lighten the ransom for the cloaked man's return. After all the food that was needed was collected a group of Militia and Legio troops hauled the food up to the fort. After confirming that all needs to the agreement were met the Cineran officer in charge had released the prisoners who were the swiftly carried to the center of Monlon to recuperate. The hostages were all unharmed by the Cinerans though it was reported that the Cinerans had killed the inn keeper of the Lost Amulet Quillia, but that was later proven to be false. No citizens or shop keepers were killed during the raid but Cineran casualties were notably high. ~ DeltaIce September 3 (9:38:33 AM) - Drunser Steps Down On the 27th day of Ereal, the Guild of Locksmiths celebrated its fourth anniversary with Drunser at the helm. After a sentimental and long-winded speech, Drunser announced that he was stepping down as Chief of the GoL. The resignation was unexpected, and viewed with surprise by all that saw it. In the interim, he appointed Joreick and Falinia to take up the slack, until the next meeting, at which time, a new Chief and Assistant Training Master will be confirmed. ~ TEC News Staff August 28 (7:39:48 AM) - Fraud Uncovered Yesterday morning a new merchant arrived, promising to pay astounding prices for junk. A large banner was hung in front of a tent to the west of the Stone Toga Inn, attracting a huge mob of onlookers. Many were there for the sake of curiosity, but most were trying to take advantage of the new arrival. Around mid-morning Numasmus arrived, dragging a large cart, with a huge guard named Aguia close behind. There was quite a commotion, before Numasmus cried out that all would be served in alphabetical order. Numasmus and his guard retired to the tent, and began trading. Several customers sold their goods, and it became clear that Numasmus was a hard bargainer, buying goods for much less than his banner proclaimed, despite deep pockets that revealed monstrous piles of cents. But once Constantine saw the money, the real game was up. Covered with a slim coating of brass or gold, the "cents" were truly just hunks of lead. With a yell, Numasmus's customers stormed the tent, and demanded good money. Numasmus had a different idea. Seeing that the crowd was turning on him, he and his guard fled. When the constables caught up with Numasmus just east of the Toga, Aguai picked up the not so jolly merchant, and attempted to flee with his master in his arms. But the constables and the other gathered citizens were too many, and too skilled to be avoided for long. After being forced to drop Numasmus, Aguia was quickly bound in ropes by Retalq. Numasmus was also apprehended without further incident. He told a wild tale about getting the fake coins from a banker in Monlon before being drug off by the constables. I hope we'll hear of the results of the investigation soon. ~ Dug Bewarof August 26 (2:32:50 AM) - Gladiator Fights Tonight, another round of gladitorial games was held by a generous patrician, and all agreed that it was a great success. One of the more exciting fights was when our good constable Shara went head to head with a dreaded sword cat, terror of the jungle. She gave a wonderful account of herself, and won the fight, but not without suffering a few punctures from the cats wicked teeth. Another notable fight was the one with Kayalarae, Mekhia, and Veyda vs. Dre. Dre was a legend, a gladiator of old come out to give us a good time. Unfortunately, his age apparently has slowed him a bit, as the three warriors were able to knock him out with little trouble. One fight that drew mixed results was the one with Anteros vs. A cineran soldier in a red cloak. While the crowd at first cheered for the quick death of the Cineran, the skill of both warriors kept any true wounds from being given as a result of excellent blocking. As the crowd quickly lost intrest, a host of other fighters entered the arena and proceeded to gang up on the Cineran, quickly knocking him out. This brought both shouts of enjoyment & encouragement, as well as shouts of unfairness. Dragoon and Thoras gave an excellent performace against a lady know as The Flower, Cornua. She wielded a mean axe, and blocked very well, but the two experienced men soon overpowered her and won the fight. The last two matches which were citizens vs. animals left both the contestants and the crowd disgusted at the lack of action.. The first of the last fights was Shara vs a sword cat. The opening shot was given by the sword cat to Shara giving her a very severe cut. Shara soon recovered to easily kill the sword cat taking only one more shot to herself in the fight. The last fight was between Snaardvark and a wolf. Snaardvark made easy work of the wolf taking no hits to himself while the crowed booed and jeered calling for more action and a better final fight. Otho had not taken bets on the last two fights. There were many other fights, and all of them were quite good. We are very thankful to the wonderful patrician who sponsered these fun games. ~ Locklear and DeltaIce August 21 (4:01:55 AM) - Cineran Fort Falls Late on the 10th night of Ereal those seeking redemption and guidance in the Monlon Temple were startled to find a traitor among them. The traitor Naestor, former centurion convicted of cowardice and treason. Naestor had escaped from the Fortress in Vetallun not long ago and came to the temple to seek peace. Haunted by visions of his comrades Naestor asked for all willing to help him reclaim the Fort that had fallen under his command. Many wanted to take him to the fort immediately and collect the reward on his head. Others wanted to kill him then and there. Thankfully the priest Perian had given Naestor the protection of the Temple. Still cries of K'Kvoratir rang out from the crowd, Altene for oath-breaker, and many were outraged that someone such has he would expect others to trust him in battle. Sir Thoras went along to make sure Naestor would not escape once more and to protect the well being of others who traveled along. Kaylarae, Shara, Lothar, Antaeus, and a number of other noteworthies joined, if not to help a fallen warrior regain his honor, to make sure a treasonous coward would not serve up their friends to a Cineran trap. Using the same secret passage he had used to escape his first time Naestor and the group gained the element of surprise upon the enemy. Two guards posted on the tower were dispatched quickly and quietly. Scouts looked around the grounds to find all of the forts guard asleep and unawares. Quickly the group rushed in on the unexpecting Cinerans and Aestivans. Though our numbers were small Surprise had done us well. No casualties were made to Iridine that night, only to those who would wish to harm us. Naestor himself, coward that he was called, Fought valiantly caring not for his own wounds till they should reach the point of near collapse. After the battle had cleared Scouts who'd traveled beyond the Fortress gates noted of Surrounding encampments and one intrepid scout even obtained a scroll from a sleeping officers quarters. Another scroll was found in the officers quarters of the first Fort. Each with potentially Vital information to the war effort. Once able Naestor was lead to a holding cell in which he was told contained a number of slaves. His eyes widened to find the slaves were none other than five of his former command, the Cliff Hawks still lived. Joyous at the event Naestor immediatly took lead of his men and had them leave to the Monlon Garrison while the retreat was sounded. Only 3 Cineran Soldiers remained, one critically wounded. And has the intrepid group of warriors, scouts, and healers left a sense of victory was obvious. Being a man of his word Naestor immediatly turned himself into Thoras's custody has soon has all were safe. Back at the fort Aulus was quit surprised to see Naetros with a such a group around him. Upon his return to the prison a silent smile arose upon Naetros's face has he knew his honor was returned and he'd no longer suffer the nightmares that plagued him. Thoras then informed Aulus of the nights events and offered the scrolls. Aulus then ordered Thoras to compile all that he, and the militia had learned of, and to return it in a written report. Dismissing those who no longer cared to stay Thoras consuled with the Scouts for what information they'd gained. All were glad that Morning. Redemption had been found that day for Naestor, if not by Iridine, then by himself and all who fought with him that night. The reward placed on his head, has per Naestor's personal request to Thoras, was to be divied between his men who'd been saved that night. We wish well for you Naestor, you've shown us all that forgivness is a blessing. ~Jetal Tukasto August 13 (3:39:47 PM) - Altene Battle Early in the morning on the 16th day of Ereal, in the 219th Year of the Republic an injured warrior staggered into the common room of the Wayfarer. Rachina the bartender immediately called out for the assistance of a healer. First on the scene was Chyen whom got to work fixing up the injured warrior. Second to reach the Wayfarer was Ton Hood who recognized the warrior to be a member of the Grey Swans, one of the five Altene mercenary groups. After the warrior, who was known as Erasos, was well enough to talk the citizens questioned him of what he was doing. It was found Erasos' calvary group was riding off to the east to help the Republic in its fight against the Aestivans. His group of around a dozen calvarymen were ambushed by another Altene mercenary group known as the Black Wolves who specialize in guerilla warfare. Erasos, aware that his camp was poorly defended had asked for the help of any warriors that could come. Many warriors immediately volunteered, the officers of the MVG and BVM that were present had made a call to muster all their troops which were not already there. Soon after the group had left for the camp. Shortly after arriving rustleing was heard in the grasslands around the camp. The gates were then closed and the warriors rushed into position. It was not long before the first of the enemy mercenaries jumped the walls of the camp. The battle soon turned into a blood bath. As soon as any of the attacking warriors were knocked down or out their commrads would drag them to safety. The defenders of the camp took heavy casualties, in many of the places in the camp the ground was covered with the bodies of the unconscious defenders who were being tended to by healers. As midday approached the battle soon came to an end. The Grey Swans, though able to fend off the attackers did not consider it a major victory. The battle was a stalemate as both side had completed their supposed tasks. After the dust had cleared it was found that there was only one comfirmed death, that of a Grey Swan who's corpse was hidden during the battle to prevent looting. The battle now over the volunteer warriors had left to allow the Grey Swans to repair the damages done to their camp. A short while after the battle a man walking around the training fields had found a couple of the warriors of the Black Wolves. He had called out for help against the warriors which was soon responded to by some of those in the surrounding area. The fight which was then eight on two went rather well, very few of the residents of Iridine were wounded. No sooner were the two Wolves a volly of arrows shot through the sky and five more Wolves came out of no where. Those residents that were there fighting soon found themselves to be in a losing battle. With the lack of badly needed healers the residents which were too injured to fight had fallen back to regroup while the rest stayed to fight. Soon after they had retreated another volley of arrows shot through the sky. This had worsened the already bad condition of the fighters. It was then called for the entire group to retreat. The residents retreated to the far southwest corner of the training fields and later to the road to tend their wounded. A few of the residents ended up unconscious. By this time both sides had scattered and the battle was considered over. ~ DeltaIce August 10 (9:44:21 PM) - Building Collapses 11th day of The Festival of the Morning in the 219th Year of the Republic Late this morning cries for help could be heard. Those who responded were shocked at the extent of the damage. Josephus, a prominent storeowner in the area, described it this way, “There was a big ‘BOOM’ and a huge cloud of dust, followed by the sounds of stone shifting and everywhere people could be heard screaming”. A three-storey insula in the southwestern suburbs suffered extensive damage when much of the building was converted to rubble. The cause of the collapse is unknown at this time, but the authorities are said to be conducting a thorough investigation. Many of Iridine’s inhabitants turned out to aid in the rescue efforts. People from all walks of life braved the unsafe conditions to pull the victims from the rubble. “It was mayhem,” says one dust-streaked rescuer. “Some of the people were buried so deep that a whole crew was necessary to extricate them.” A young, female rescuer commented, “It was horrible. To top it off, the collapse seemed to free a whole colony of rats. There were people frantically trying to dig someone free while others were having to fight of these large, smelly rats. It was a total nightmare.” As soon as someone was pulled free, they were whisked out of the crumbling structure to awaiting teams of healers who had set up makeshift hospitals on the cobblestone streets surrounding the accident site. There the wounded were treated for their most serious wounds which included multiple broken bones, fractures, and deep punctures. “I’d never seen such a thing,” an exhausted medic reported. “As soon as we’d finish with one patient, three more would be pulled out. After all that, I think I could sleep for a week.” It is estimated that up to 200 people were pulled from the wreckage. As many as 50 more may have perished. Said one distraught rescuer, “I found a little girl’s doll and have been searching for it’s owner ever since, but having spoken to most of the kids who survived, I’m beginning to fear the worst.” The situation took a turn for the worse a few hours into the operation. After a continual stream of survivors were removed from the catastrophe, it was inevitable that, for some, rescue would come too late. “We were all really upbeat as everyone we had rescued was alive. Then, all of a sudden, it stopped. It was like time had run out. From that point on we rarely found someone still breathing,” says one rescuer. “Everything went real quiet. You could see it in the eyes of those who were still working. Hope was fast disappearing and the realization that from here on out it was going to be less and less likely that we would find anyone still alive had begun to set in,” a young man about to collapse from exhaustion reported. While many of the survivors will be staying with relatives and praying for their good fortune, others will be mourning the loss of loved ones. For tonight the skies will be lit with the flames of the burial pyres of those for whom Ereal has recalled to his bosom. ~ Laressa August 5 (6:13:42 PM) - Traitors caught! The constabulary of Viron, a town in the republic, south of Iridine, sent word that the traitor Brith the Butcher was captured in their town. Brith was the Aestivan soldier who has trained the forest bandits along Vetallun road to their current deadly skill. He brutally murdered Trooper Pullox of the Blackvine Militia before being taken in by the Legio the first time. Barrabus, a soldier killer, attacked Kitaria in Vetallun, who barely escaped. The Legionary Gagra Pivot attempted to catch the traitor, but was unable to do so (having just come off a victorious fight with the soldiers of Aestiva), and also barely escaped with his life. Militia Sergeant Bjergar, along with Retalq, a leader of the Monlon Militia, and Constable Shara caught the traitor in the Monlon temple. He can now be seen outside Vetallun fort. ~ CornBread July 31 (7:55:47 PM) - Traitors escaped! A number of criminals recently escaped from the Vetallun fort. Many of them are deadly, most all are treasonous scum. Aulus will give a reward for their return to the fort. Among the escapees was the Aestivan soldier Brith, who brutally murdered Trooper Pullox of the Blackvine Militia, and was training the bandits that dwell in the woods between the city of Iridine and the small village of Vetallun. Also among the escapees was one Kelse. This beautiful young woman was a known smuggler of hooded cloaks, which were banned from Iridine by order of Calsuan. A few members of the constabulary received some information as to her where abouts, and tracked her throughout the city, but she escaped from them and rode one of her horses from the city. Although she escaped, a man who worked for her, by the name of Aolio was caught and sent to jail for his crimes. ~ CornBread July 8 (10:35:14 PM) - Treasure in the Northern Woods! Late in the evening, a few people wandering through the northern woods were attacked by all sorts of things, Esecarnus, Boars, Wolves, Cineran Footmen, Cineran Heavy Soldiers, Cineran Archers, Cineran Soldiers, and Bandits. The people started finding treasures in boulders, and even greater treasures with over a talent in gold cents, stones, and silver daggers inside of silvery looking boulders. All in all, it was a fun nite, and it helped make some citizens just a bit richer. ~ CornBread July 3 (1:35:45 AM) - Monster Bash! Early evening of the 14th day of Lucifal in the 218th year of the Republic Iridine was attacked by a multitude of attackers. From lowley rats and eyeless humanoids all the way to the highly skilled forest bandits and Cineran archers. The attack started near the Wayfarer where the bandits were first sited and stretched as far as the sewers. Many of Iridine's brave citizens fought outnumbered but strong against the attackers. The attackers were successful in knocking out and nearly killing a few of the more skilled fighters in the assault including Constable Minos and Sergeant Thoras of the Legio. After the bandits were overcome the attackers started to break up and were eventually eliminated. The last of the attackers to fall was a Glowing Green Horned Beetle which was taken down after a long drawn out struggle by Minos, Shalini, Soren, Palin, and Ton. ~ DeltaIce July 3 (1:27:06 AM) - Ravan Ravan, you ask? Who is he/she/it? Well no one is exactly sure of Ravan’s identity. His name was brought forth by a messenger, after a massive blood-bath in alleys when a surge of Thugs and Brutes came upon the allies in the city during a dark and chilly night. So many brutes and thugs filled the allies, that nearly everyone in the city poured in there to control the pest problem. After that siege, a massive swarm of sewer animals came upon the city with some type of killing disease. A few weeks after this occurrence, a signal of passiveness came upon Midlight. We weren’t sure if it was the last of it/she/him, or it was just a period of pause. Now we’re sure it isn’t the end. It first started when everyone woke up in Midlight during the chilly afternoon, when a strange barking dog greeted them. Many ignored the dog's call, and went about their own business. Others, the few, heeded the dog's call - sighting something even stranger and wickeder is coming. Those who preached a work of caution in the coming hours, were mocked by others. The mockers, however, were proven wrong… A few hours later, after the gleaming sun has set, weird and devilish things occurred throughout the city. In the sewers, first sounds of screeching and screaming echoed through the desolate human waste dump. Then the earth shook beneath all the dwellers of the sewers. Many heeded the warning, and headed up. At this point, the think net was flooded with people who also noted many weird occurrences. From the sewers up to bronze lane, people heard hooves of a horse carrying across the city. After the acknowledgement of the horses hooves, the sewer started to stink way more than usual. At this point – I headed back to the surface with my partner. Not soon after, ill infested rats and oscars flooded the city. Warriors and healers began battling the devilish critters. Cutting gladiues, whizzing arrows, chopping staves littered all the wide cobblestone roads. Armed warriors battled against the flooded streets, while the healers quickly and hastily bandaged swordsmen/woman. It was agreed upon that every person meet at the Stone Toga Inn, and would be our foothold in this war. It soon became apparent, however, that the sickly animals were truly sickly. All those that were cut and bitten by the rats and osecars immediately began having severe chills, and a few died as a result. To my understanding, Won died (gathered from the think net) as well a few others. The only cure that was known was a blood tonic, which was in short supply - from what I heard at the toga. Many of the injured gathered in Constanies, by the Stone Toga Inn. There many of the sick sat in chairs where they were tended by healers. Among the most active of who was Elton, who not only fought impressively (and by no exaggeration!) by many other warriors, but was also the most active healer: supplying many with bandages and treating the very ill. A few shortminutes later, the madness stopped. The war was short lived, and damage reports started coming in. Over the think net, many people were becoming sick after skinning rats and osecars. They were infected from touching the things, and didn’t even get a precious gem or anything of that sort to compensate. It was also heard over the think net that the sewers have also broken open in certain areas. That is yet to be verified. Other damages have not been noted. All we can do now is sit aside, and defend ourselves. If our city is to fall due to Ravan, may every one of us fight to the death – for eternal city is forever eternal in our hearts. ~ mssnhead July 2 (6:37:41 PM) - Is it Moonfall? During the nite, a sound of hoofs was heard through the city, and the ground shook. Then the moon Aera flickered, and Lucifal followed suit. Shortly later, it was heard that a dark man on a horse had rode out of the portal. Te Altene warrior Feysal screamed, and the rider told Feysal that Altene would never be free, then rode into the darkness. Feysal then mentioned needing a blade, and turned back into the stone he had become. Later, he cried a tear which turned into a crystal, and several carrions and a morleus, a shadow lion, attacked. The carrions were killed, and the powerful morleus finally wandered back into the portal, nearly unscathed. Later, Wolke rubbed the crystal and another stone that fell there, and they glowed, the ground shook, rocks fell from the ceiling, and a small crevice appeared in the wall that let out fumes, causing those who had touched the stones to shiver. What is the meaning of all this? Could it be the beginning of Moonfall? ~ CornBread June 30 (11:36:54 AM) - Auxilii auction Though the evening started off a little late, there was quite a crowd when Skye and her entourage of helpers arrived at Flavius' gates. After Ton was kind enough to seat everyone, Skye, assisted by Chyen, Shawntel, Morrian and Dragcules brought all the items to begin the auction. With the presence of constables Artilius and Leoric there, things were very quiet and calm, with no disruptions save a hefty bidding war between a few gentlemen looking for some tight-fitting clothing. The largest item of the night, however, was a delicate silver necklace of spectacular quality, purchased by Tarlin. Other large purchases were a good guality alanti glad, bought by Dragcules; a silk tunic, also purchased by Dragcules; and a yummy glass of sunfruit wine picked up by Dragoon, who also nabbed a muscle cuirass. Ysanne, who leaned against the wall waiting patiently all night for staves, picked up two for herself.. Antaeus, Deams, and Aedwin to name a few also made purchases of armor that made them quite excited. All in all, it was a fun night had by all. If you missed out on the fun, however, all is not lost. Due to the number of items, a second auction will take place next week. Hope to see you all there! ~ Raven3517 June 21 (8:38:21 PM) - The retirement of Captain Prion Early in the morning of the 1st Day of the Festival of the Wanderer, the Militia gathered to graduate the latest class of trooper recruits. Captain Prion had more news, though, announcing his retirement as Captain, and promoting Ton Hood to the position. As the troopers joked, wondering if their maneuvers would again be interrupted, a small boy knocked on the door of HQ. Somehow recognizing Prion, he conveyed a message from a "big man" in a "broken shack", who'd paid him to ask the Captain to meet him alone. Observant troopers quickly noted the gleam of a Cineran shekel in his hand...surrounding the shack, they sprung the trap. Upon throwing open the door, Prion was met by over fifteen battle-hardened Cineran troops, led by an officer. Prion fell quickly, knocked out by Cineran footmen, but the Militia prevailed, although badly outnumbered. Only the officer survived to escape. Battered but whole, the Militia celebrated yet another victory, welcoming their new commander, and giving Prion a rousing send-off. As Captain Ton gathered his troopers, Prion waved and departed with his beloved Skye, down the wagon trail he had travelled so many times over the years of his command. ~ fnord June 11 (10:50:01 PM) - Lizards on the Loose! Recently a man by the name of Tyrano lost many of his rare lizards one his servant lost control of them, and was somehow killed in the sewers. The man asked anyone willing to help to recover his lost lizards, and gave them a few cents for their trouble. Malik received a small green lizard for a pet as a reward for recovering 4 of Tyrano's 5 rare rainbow lizards. ~ CornBread June 2 (4:41:13 PM) - Ship Wreck! A storm brewed off the coast of Iridine, as a small ferry left the lighthouse harbor. Suddenly, the area went dark went as the lighthouse beacon went out! A man named Quentus was found near another ferry, and he requested aid for the shipwrecked sailors and the cargo. A dozen or so citizens joined him, and all exerted great effort to make it to the Lighthouse isle. Finally, after arrival..Quentus found the wrecked boat, which was off the coast. This forced the rescurers to swim through several obstacles in their way. After climbing up the ramp, several who where on the boat headed below. Several crates where scattered about, and a locked door to a cabin was found by Ruttiger and Palin. Cherry unlocked the door, and all entered to find six trunks, and a dozen sealed coffers. In a mad dash to collect the merchandise, all barely made it off the dieing ship after it submurged beneath the waves. One of the trunks was unlocked..finding something priceless, to a chef! Mushrooms aplenty in each chest, and nut-flavored tobacco is all of the coffers. After all had been collected, Quentus led all of the brave citizens back towards the ferry. Although the reward was only a handful of the rare tobacco, and 75 denars..all can say it was an adventure not to be missed. ~ Glaewyth May 29 (12:51:26 PM) - A warm reception. Today the citizens were treated to an auction when the long absent merchant Navaar made a welcome and overdue return to Iridine. He met with a large group of people in a packed Stone Toga Inn and proceeded to share many stories and offered many of the exotic items he'd found on his travels up for auction. Many things were sold including statues, fertility amulets, exotic spices, assorted jewellery, various items of clothing ranging from the functional to the extravagant and the helm of a famous gladiator - which I myself snapped up. Due to the unique nature of the items in question the prices were very high - the lowest being a rather damaging sixty-one cents. The real gold of the day were Navaar's stories and the stories of those present and a good time was had by all. Navaar made an estimated 80-90 talents through the course of the auction however and if he doesn't settle down now, he'll have plenty of money to resume his travels but you would feel with the amount of money he made on this trip that his visits may become a little more frequent in future. All in all a most enjoyable experiance for all involved - I'd say especially Navaar - who we wish all the best in whatever he does. ~ Prime May 28 (12:33:06 PM) - Contest Strikes Iridine On the 20th day of Jemros, 218 AR, a man named Preposterous came bearing news of a contest for the people of Iridine, and a golden reward for the winner. Apparently, Preposterous gave out riddles that led to a place with yet another riddle, and so on and so forth until eight riddles had been given. At each riddle, there was a box containing colored tiles, to prove that the bearer had actually visited the riddle. There were 8 riddles in all. Although initially the area was swamped with treasure hunters, they soon departed for search on where the clues were. Somewhat disappointed in the amount of people partaking and the possibility of strife that the controversial contest held, Gregorius set off to make his customary check on the Master's Choice and the Golden Anchor before heading off to sleep. Coincidentally, he found the second riddle there, and decided to follow the contest through to its conclusion. Amazingly enough, he managed to to be faster than the others searching for this contest, and ended up winning the generous prize of 5000 denars, or approximately 3 and a half talents, from Preposterous. Alantri and the combined team of Thoras and Seraph were close finishers. ~ ElCapitan, CornBread, and the TEC News Staff May 24 (6:25:48 PM) - Oak Forest becomes Deadly Lately, is has been proven that the once peaceful Oak forest is not as serene as it seems. Many of the travelling adventurers have found that snares lie beneath the underbrush, awaiting a victim to clench their teetch upon. Meanwhile, the Brigands and newly fashioned "Bladers", (Brigands wielding the gladius), approach in numbers and slaughter. With the dangers of the oak forest now revealed, it may come to relief to discover that items such as bronze visored helmets and chipped gladii are among the loot from these vagabonds. This just goes to show that even the most peaceful places do not always prosper. ~ Dragoon May 22 (11:02:58 PM) - Kivlan terrorizes the area Recently, a cry for help was heard from a soldier at the Blackvine Pallisade, they were being attacked! Then Leptanious, the Cineran priest, cried out as well, he was being attacked by a man in black, Kivlan! Starwind was the first to reach the pallisade, finding the gate burnt, and soldiers corpses all around, about 10 in all. Thoras arrived soon after, and Leptanious was found inside, badly mutilated. He came to just long enough to say that the amulet had been taken, and the one that did it was headed to the Temple of Worms, in the marshes. Many tried to stop Kivlan on his way, but it was Starwind, Tarsos, Annatar, Shara, Corin, Aglaia, Falinia, and a few others who found him as he arrived at the temple. They fought him for quite a while, and Kivlan, kept using magic to throw the group to the ground. He was unable to get to the amulet, and gave in. He threatened to return again, and disappeared, leaving everything he'd had on him on the ground, including the things Leptanious needed to help end Moonfall. The first amulet and the rod were grabbed up by the constables, but the key needed to retrieve the amulet in the temple was snatched by Stryfe, who ran off with it. Why would he do this? How could he not want to end Moonfall? We'll see in the days to come. ~ CornBread May 21 (11:21:11 AM) - Malonius' Child Found! Latre one night, adventurers, Legio members, and Wolf Pack members gathered at Pego's Bar to await Malonius. The rumor was the Malonius had discovered the possible whereabouts of his child at a wharehouse supposedly belonging to the Moon Bay Company. When we arrived, Ossevius looked up and froze of shick to see such a crowd. Some of the mob charged into the next room, to find the Centurion Marcus. After a few minutes of hostile persuassion, Ossevius went to open the trap door that marcus was found standing by. After a collection of accusations from Malonius to Marcus, the trap door opened and a large dark cavern was below. Some went charging in only to surrounded by a group of Cinerans in a hidden stoarge room containing crates of weapons. The Cineran soldiers were quickly outnumbered and killed and Malonius found his son, fatigued but alive, in a small room. After the ordeal, Marcus was questioned by Malonius and others while the Legio members stood and watched on, constantly sweraing their allegience to their hero Marcus. After a few moments, Apolia, Marcus' wife, arrived and quickly drew a knife and held to to Tarsos throat. At that moment, Marcus fled the room and a few gave chase but lsot him in the dark. The night ended with questions still lingering in the air as Apolia begged the constables to allow her speak to the Senate. Some say Marcus is a traitor, but many, including myself, say we should not judge him untill the truth is discovered. ~ Cladius Maximus May 15 (11:15:57 AM) - Deadly forest. Late in the evening of the 20th day of Invex, Prion heard cries for help from citizens wandering the forest along Vetallun road. Weary as he was, he grabbed his spear and headed there to see if he could lend assistance. Upon arriving at the edge, he found a troubling sight. Near a large boulder more than a dozen people, many with horrible wounds, were being tended by the healer Sansia. Angry and disbelieving tales were told of new and powerful tactics used by the already dangerous bandits that roamed the forest. Prion headed down the road looking answering a cry for help, and found the master knivesman Dante, battered and bleeding to death. Once Dante's safety was assured, he warily entered the forest and patrolled, seeking to gauge this new threat. Lulled into overconfidence by the easy defeat of a pair of archers, Prion shadowed a group of four spearman...when they scattered, he chose a lone bandit and attacked. The young criminal's friends soon returned to the scene though, and Prion was in a fight for his life. These four were no common bandits...they effortlessly struck past defenses tuned by years of training, and the master spearman's attacks were batted aside easily. Repeatedly swept and impaled, saved only by his armor, he fled the scene hastily, barely escaping the fate that had befallen so many others. Shocked and dismayed at the prowess of these vagabonds, one question dominated his thoughts...what enemy of the Republic had molded these thugs into such efficient killers? Shouting an oath of vengeance, Prion turned his back on the deadly forest and headed home. ~ fnord
March 31 (10:26)PM - Auction a Big Success Friday nights auction of domiciles was a huge success. Many people were made happy with 2,3, and 4 room apartments. Among them were Skye (who got the last apartment for 23 talents), Donniger, and Bjerger. The bidding peaked at 43 talents early on but bids once again began to rise as the number of available apartments shrank. As before reported Skye's 2 room apartment, the last sold, cost 23 talents while Donniger, for example, bought his awhile before and only paid 16 talents. While many individuals in couples, such as Cassie and Tug, were made happy with apartments, due to the scarsity of rooms many people could only watch in awe as they were sold. This reporter was among one of the spectators. It is this reporters opinion that everyone at the auction conducted themselves with great respect for the auctioneer. Once again wed like to thank him for the chance to buy homes for ourselves and friends. For everyone that got an apartment congratulations. For those of us that didnt good luck next time. This reporters betting on bidding next time. ~Ken March 26 (8:04)PM - Son Found! It seems that Taliseman's only son, from his first and only marrage, has found his way miracurously to Iridine. The boy, who's name is Jibba, after his uncle, told of a plague that killed his mother. That he had lived in the forest with the bandits, not really knowing who they were, after having to run away from his hometown due to the war. He can be seen usually holding his fathers hand, and being taught in the ways of Iridine and also the Sanchez family name. ~200XR March 26 (5:11)AM - A Sudden Flutter In recent events, the hospice was overrun by carrion birds. These large, black, "Flightless" birds were heard as far away as the Toga alleys from the hospice. This even took place shortly after a grizzled sailor was met at the Toga inn, and spoke of a girl who had been captured by 'Demons'. With a heroic stride, Adronicus, Tarsos, Thoras, and a few others found the demons near the harbor. With the demons conquered, it was discovered that the girl had already been sacrificed on an altar. Luckilly, there was only one known casualty from the carrion rush. All that showed up had no choice but to tap aid from Iridine Soldiers and Constables. The warriors showed high valor and esteem, and successfully protected Melilia and Isakara from harm. Could this be another plot of the Cinerans, or perhaps the work of the Ravanite army...? May the light shine on this victory for the people of Iridine. ~Dragoon March 25 (8:50)PM - New Skills Being Implemented! There's been a complete overhaul of many of the combat skill sets in the last several weeks, , and now it's been announced that some of the non-combat skills will be worked on and revised... who can say what different experiences await us in the future? ~TEC News Staff March 19 (4:38) PM - Legio Supply run An Officer came up to me outside the Stone Toga Inn, with orders from the Vetallun fort about a supply run for them. Some soldiers arrived dragging a few hand-carts. What seemed to be a quick, routine marching with supplies quickly turned into a war act when Cinerans tried to burn our supplies. Legionaires, recruits and a few citizens who passed the forrest at the wrong time, fought side by side against a large amount of Cinerans, brigands and bandits. Looks like the Aestivians and Cinerans are digging deeper and deeper into Iridine. The Legio is trying their upmost to hold the lines. But for how long can we? ~ Wallace Octavian, Legio I March 13 (6:15) PM - Shadows, Morleii and carrion birds! Recently, several shadows have appeared to several citizens accompanied by chilly winds. The aftermath is even grimer. In one instance, a constable was killed in the headquarters and carrion birds were spotted in Vetallun. Citizens took up arms against the birds and were help by cineran and aestivan soldiers as well. Most recently, after the shadows were spotted, Aeryll ran into a pack of morleii tearing at corpses so badly mutilated, they cold not be identified at the kings bridge. Aeryll was attacked and almost succomed to his wounds. Citizens rallied at the bridge to assist but as the morleii were being attacked, at least one disappeared into the shadows, vanishing from the sight of its attackers. Ravan casts a dark shadow over the city...will these attacks continue to increase with the coming of the moonfall? And are the people of Iridine ready for them?. ~ Ramleaf March 4 (1:09) AM - Another Cineran attack With the engraver opening up shop, hoards of Iridine Citzens lines the streets in a weaving line waiting to enter. But instead of fine craftsmenship, the city received death. Escarnii appeared and Cinerans were rumored to be attacking Monlon. The fighting lated for hours and resulted in numerous deaths and serios wounds. The Escarnii were battled with complete ineffiency, with everyone yelling at each other and members of guilds fighting with a different guild, etc. Basically, total chaos. Thus, the amount of deaths and wounded could have been reduced if the people had been better repaired. Despite this, the escarnii were driven off and the looter became the next enemy. Every body was looted and every looted was burtally killed by all of the citizens around. Actually, we killed the looters with better efiency than the Escarnii. Overall, about 15 arrests were made, crowding jail cells with KO's, sick, angry, and insane. All in all, Iridine is not ready for a Ciner invasion, and we must come to realize that they WILL take our fair city if they launch a full scale attack in the upcoming days. ~ Cladius February 20 (4:47) PM - Ossyrus and the pirates. Late last night a letter was found describing Ossyrus, a well known smuggler, was involved with the pirate attacks on the town Blackvine. Legio, Militia, and citizens rushed to Blackvine where they headed north east towards a small outpost, where they pirates were expected to be. Upon entering the small post, ruffians and rogues creeped from the shadows and attacked everyone. With everyone's help they were vanquished without much trouble. But where was Ossyrus? Amorine found him hiding in an office with a few bodyguards who were welcomed to gruesome ends when Annatar, Tarsos and Amose joined in. Then Ossyrus' personal bodyguard, a pirate, came out but was ended by a few key hits by Tarsos. Ossyrus began to flee and Amose persued the cowering man and was soon bound up with help from the rest of Iridine's company. Then Shan and Infinitus proceeded to lead back a small party to Vetallun and were tormented by Ossyrus' remarks on Altenes, the Republic and appearances. Upon reaching Vetallun, Ossyrus was handed over to Aulus, where he was interrogate and then imprisoned. But it's still rumored that ruffians and rogues pray on victims foolish enough to wander into the docks alone... ~ Amose February 18 (8:17) PM - Trouble in Blackvine. Recently I was wandering in Blackvine as usual...when I spotted some masts far off to the north. Many cries were heard in my thoughts as to what these ships brought. At first I believed them to be trading ships, brought to Blackvine at last, but these thoughts were quickly erased as I helplessly watched them set fire to a fishing boat. After watching these rogues expertly manuever their ship and smash the burning vessel, and set fire to another, I became enraged, yet frightened. The seamen jumped from aboard their watercraft, luckily Thain, Prion, and Daine had joined me. Our BVM Cappie was the first down, with a crippling puncture to the thigh. A few seafarers went under, but still more were spilling from the docks. I went down, but by this time Adronicus and a few others had arrived...the wounded retreated to the BVM HQ, where they patiently waited for a healer to arrive. Chyen was this much-anticipated healer. He slapped a bandage on my bleeding waist after stitching it shut, and I was back in action. I fought till I was exhausted. One person from the ship made it into the HQ, but he was quickly ousted by tired Troopers and an Iridine soldier. It was a long, hard fought battle, but the Legio and the militia came out on top. ~ Lanamor February 13 (4:25) PM - Raids and Attacks. Iridine has been subject to constant raids and attacks by a number of adversaries. The first attack being in Monlon and has continued for 3 days now. The Cinerans and their Aestevian Allies fought near a cliff side in Monlon with defenders of the city and the Legio. Iridine triumphed with a brilliant counterattack and supreme organization. Then, I stumbled upon an Aestevian Lancer and War Horse in font of the Toga and immediatly called for assistence. Seven of us fought hard but 4 of us, including myslef, were serously injured. With little but a bruise, the Lancer rode off out of the city. Then, civilians noticed Pirate ships off the coast and the next day Ruffians and Rogues came through the alley ways forcing many hunters to run to the Toga and Ledas to regroup. The fighting went on for a good hour going in and out of the Toga and Ledas. 7 were seriously wounded but recovered at a later time. Everyone is asking the question if these forces will be back, and when? ~ Cladius Maximus February 13 (1:00) AM - Assault on Monlon. Cinerans and their Aestivan allies attacked the holy city of Monlon recently, seizing the Monlon fort. Many fighters and healers piled in to defend the city. Esecarnus, Cineran footman, Cineran muscular soldiers, Aestivan shield-bearers and Aestivan Hyaspists attacked the defenders repeatedly. Then under the orders of General Narisse of the Aestivan Military Council, they retreated back into the fort. They often wander outside the fort, looking to attack any nearby. Flavius, the Governor of Monlon held a party to thank the defenders of Monlon. After a night full of entertainment and food, a messender from the Aestivan League arrived and handed Flavius the banner of an Iridine Cohort, apparently destroyed completely on the war front. He then told Flavius that Narisse would accept his proposition to end the fighting which was this, Narisse would fight the best Iridine has to offer, if they win, The League will leave. Who will fight Narisse? We will see in the days to come. ~ Cornbread February 7 (5:31) PM - New Caverns discovered. A new hunting area has been discovered after a search and rescue mission was carried out there. The caves have been explored by the efforts of many a soul and mapped by all of them. Gagra, in my opionion, provides the best map and it's aslo free of charge. Rabbits, rats, and lone bandits have been discovered in the vast caverns. However, some tales of larger creatures have been circulating among the population yet no evidence has been found of these humanoids and monsters. You can visit the cave in the grasslands off of the Inves River on the road to the Vetallun Crossroads. Don't forget to bring a torch with you and a map or you will get lost. ~ Cladius Maximus February 5 (1:27) AM - The Serpent Competition, continued. After four brutal matches, only half of the initial eight to make it to the final rounds remain. Prion, Pacolypse, Lanamor, and Cepheron - Who among these warriors will claim the title of Iridine's champion fighter? Beting is, as always, open to those with the gambling spirit. ~ Rafols February 4 (1:19) AM - Gribble's story time. Gribble held a very fun and entertaining event this evening. Who ever told the best story/ song/ peom/ ect won 2 talents! Murcutio told one of a young boy. Wolke and Fry did some kissing up *wink* and Anya told of her past. There where meny others but these were just some. It was all about drinking and hanging with friends. ~ Dscott January 30 (1:07) AM - The Serpent Competition. The competition of arms is approaching its climax as the eight advancing warriors and their quarterfinal matches have been announced. Keep a close eye for word as to who among Prion, Kragg, Thain, Cepheron, Lanamor, Thoras, Amose and Pacolypse will come out on top of this tournament of fighting skill. ~ Rafols January 19 (4:22) PM - Concert at the Stone Toga The Stone Toga hosted an impromptu cultural event featuring a strong performance from headliner Shade. Sponsored by Phaestus, Shade regaled a sizeable crowd, (given the short-notice), with several songs and a feline interpretive dance. Shade's set was followed by an entertaining tale of a burglary gone wrong told by a mysterious man in a black hooded cloak. It is believed that other acts followed, but were not observed by this reporter. The crowd was well-behaved and attentive, even given some unneeded provocation on the part of some of the less culturally-attuned. Shade is reported to have worn a black and red outfit that had her sponsor reconsidering his monkish lifestyle. Special thanks to Sepulus for his self-control, and Shan for her armloads of tarts... ~ Mikesabers January 10 (10:03) PM - A friendly Auction People lined up by the blue marked door on Sunday, January 9th. As soon as the door was unlocked, people filed in. The auction, held by stranger Nestus, was a huge success. Things ranged between 1 and 7 talents i thought i might have saw. It was quite an event with only one inturuption by a nasty thief named Clerkk. Clerkk was quickly detained and the auctioned went uphill from there. There were lots of fine silk and gold cloth garments, a knife, a pipe, and plenty of jewelry. It was a successful night. ~ Ronmower January 10 (9:22) PM - The Toga is the hotbed of unrest. The Toga today was filled with all sorts of violence and theft. First of all, a huge brawl broke out earlier with just about 6 people involved. The fighting went in and out of the Inn for several minutes but was brought to an end by Aphrael and Annatar. Two people (their names will remain anonymous) were arrested. Later in the day, one man was KO'ed in front of the Toga by what I am told was a fire catching hold of him. While he lay there helpless, he was robbed blind by two suspects who have been reported to the constables. He was later revived by the gallant efforts of the healer Hommie after many an attempt. Lastly, the Ko'ed mans things were returned by a women whos name will remain anonymous. She was severly interrogated by a few Vigilantes and Constables for issues over murder and theft. The accusations were denied and the truth has yet to be discovered. After all was said and done, the citizens of Iridine returned to their daily lives. What a day at the Toga. ~ Cladius January 3 (11:36) AM - Acolyes disbanded As of Sunday, January 2, the Acolytes of the Temple (at least the current class) was disbanded and summarily removed from the Temple. This news came as a shock to everyone, as general opinion among the Acolyte class was that they were finally on the right track. However problems with training and a number of desertions reduced numbers and finally, when a thief was uncovered among them, their dismissal was sealed. Given one weeks time to leave the Temple, the Acolytes were encouraged to join the 'Angels of Light' and told that when recruiting for the next class of the Temple was held in 3 months, they would receive some recognition as to their prior standing (meaning they would start at the next level of advancement). In general, most of the former Acolytes are angry and upset, as they now have to wait several months just to return to their prior duties. ~ JSmoov ^Top^ |
